...this little beauty. I am applying to be a fashion designer in a local show in February and this is going to be a piece in my line! I'm thinking Pride and Prejudice meets nautical. This first piece was draped, and then I drafted the pattern afterwards. I'll be finishing it this week so watch out for the final project!

The "yummy" scarf
This is what my mother calls "the yummy scarf." She likes to call things that feel soft and comfy, "yummy." In any case, I've begun all my knitting projects so they will be done by the time winter arrives! I've always stuck with one yarn, but this time I decided to start mixing different colors and sizes. Like it?
Soon to come: a nautical striped dress.

The Blue One Piece
The blue one piece is all finished and in the arms of its new owner! I was so relieved it fit Claire perfectly because I based it off her measurements, but since she was across the country I never was able to try it on her. I made up the pattern, and sort of experimented with most of it. I love the way it turned out, and how flattering it was! Total yardage used: 1.

New fabric is here!
Finally my new fabric from spandex world has arrived! Seriously, their shipping is so slow! Here's what's coming up in the swimsuit department...
So excited to make a bathing suit out of picnic blanket fabric :) It's like the perfect pattern for summer!
And in blue, soon to come is this beauty...
Keep an eye out for it!

The Thrift Store Project: 1
I am starting a project! It is called the Thrift Store Project. Here's how it works: I'm trying to save money, so this entire summer I am only letting myself buy clothes from thrift stores. This will not only be cheaper but it will force me to sew more because they will obviously need to be refashioned!
**note: I'm also allowed to buy fabric because that's technically not clothing :)
Last week I spotted this little number at DI:
Precious, right? I decided it would make an ADORABLE maxi skirt. I cut off the top of the dress, then added elastic for the waistband :) It was that simple! Here is the result:
Now lets compare it to the only skirt from a store I could find that looked similar:
Jean Paul Gaultier $341
How much did I save? $333 :)
Cheers to a summer of lots of saving and sewing!

Polka-dot Turquoise Suit
I cannot even express how much I LOVE having a custom made swimsuit. Maybe it's just me, but trying on bathing suits in stores is always a nightmare! And they never fit me quite right! This is my newest suit, fresh off the sewing machine and onto my lovely model Tessa. Isn't she gorgeous?
Feel free to check out the swimsuit tab to find out how to order your own custom swimsuit!

Honeybee Swimsuit
Over the long weekend I got to try out my new swimsuit I recently finished! I love love love the honeybee pattern, even though it kind of looks like it should be used in children's wear. Oh well!
